ADOPTION SERVICES

Ohio has many children from troubled families.  These children are of diverse ages, race and background.  Locally, people interested in adopting special needs children can contact us at Hardin County Job & Family Services for information on completing the home study process.  We can also assist in matching children to adoptive parents.  People interested in becoming adoptive parents may contact the agency.

CHILD FOSTER CARE SERVICES

Although we do not currently license foster homes, we can answer questions regarding the process and provide a list of agencies who are currently licensing homes.  Please call for more information.

PROTECTIVE SUPERVISION

Family Protective Services- One of the roles of Hardin County Job and Family Services is to make sure children are raised in a safe environment and to keep families together whenever possible. To do this we provide services to families who are experiencing problems with abuse or neglect of children or the elderly, and families who are having problems maintaining a safe environment for their children for any number of reasons. These services include: Case Management, Information and Referral; Transportation; Foster Family placement; Residential Placement; In Home Training Services for Family Members. Rarely, there are instances where the child’s safety can not be reasonably assured. In those instances, it is our role to accept permanent custody of such children and find the best possible permanent home for them; this may be in the home of a trustworthy relative or family friend, or, in some instances may need to be an adoptive home with qualified adoptive parents.

CERTIFICATION OF CHILD CARE PROVIDERS

Certification of Type B Child Care Providers:  People interested in providing child care in their home can be licensed through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.  These services are being provided by the Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC).  For more information, please contact that Agency at 419-784-2150 or by visiting their website at http://www.nocac.org/index.htm.
